Abilene

/ˈæbɪˌlin/ noun

A city in Texas, or more broadly, any of several cities in the United States named Abilene. Often associated with the American frontier and cattle-driving era.

Named after Abilene, Kansas, which was itself named after the biblical city of Abilene mentioned in Luke 3:1, meaning 'grassy place' in Aramaic. The Kansas city became famous as a cattle town at the end of the Chisholm Trail in the 1860s-1870s.
