Accademia

An academy or learned society; a place or institution for artistic, literary, or scientific study, especially as found in Italy.

From Italian 'accademia,' derived from Greek 'Akademia,' the school founded by Plato in ancient Athens. The term became especially prominent during the Italian Renaissance when scholars established academies to revive classical learning.
