Acetylsalicylate

The salt or ester form of acetylsalicylic acid, the active ingredient in aspirin.

From acetylsalicylic (acetyl + salicylic, from salicin found in willow bark) + -ate (salt/ester suffix). This term became standard as aspirin became a commercial drug.
