A Christian monastic group or sect from early church history that practiced sleeplessness or continuous worship without rest.

From Greek 'a-' (without) and 'koimetai' (sleep), referring to monks who attempted perpetual wakefulness. The term emerged from fourth-century Eastern Christian monasticism.
