Acroterium

A small pedestal or sculptural ornament placed at the apex or corner of a classical building's roof.

From Greek 'akron' (peak) and 'terion' (small structure). The term evolved in architectural vocabulary to describe decorative elements at the highest points of temples and other classical buildings during the Renaissance revival of Greek and Roman architecture.
