Actinocutitis

Inflammation of the skin caused by exposure to radiation, particularly from ultraviolet light or radioactive sources.

From actino- (Greek aktis, 'ray') + cutis (Latin for 'skin') + -itis (Greek suffix meaning 'inflammation'). This medical term emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as scientists studied radiation effects.
