Adobe

/əˈdoʊbi/ noun

A building material made from sun-dried clay bricks, often mixed with straw. It is also used to refer to houses or structures built with these bricks.

From Spanish *adobe*, which came from Arabic *aṭ-ṭūb* meaning “the brick.” Ultimately, it goes back to a Coptic and then ancient Egyptian word for “brick.”
