A genus of small colorful parrots native to Africa and Madagascar, commonly known as lovebirds because they often stay with the same mate for life.
From Greek 'agape' (love) and 'ornis' (bird), literally 'love bird.' The name was given because of their intensely bonded pair-relationships.
