Agaves

Plural of agave; succulent plants with long, thick leaves native to the Americas, used to make tequila, mezcal, and fiber products.

From Spanish 'agave,' derived from Taíno (Caribbean indigenous language) 'agave.' The word traveled from the Caribbean to Europe and back to Spanish America via colonial trade routes.
