Airmail

A system of sending letters and packages by airplane instead of by slower ground transportation.

From 'air' + 'mail.' First used in 1911 for experimental flights carrying mail; became a standard postal service in the 1920s. The term revolutionized correspondence by dramatically reducing delivery time.
