Akali

A member of the Akali Dal, a Sikh religious and political movement, or a Sikh militaristic order; one who follows 'Akal' (timeless divinity).

From Punjabi 'Akalī,' derived from 'Akal' (Timeless One) + suffix denoting follower. The Akali movement emerged in the 18th century as a militant Sikh response to persecution.
