A type of decorative earthenware cylindrical jar with a narrow neck and lip, traditionally used by apothecaries and pharmacists to store medicines and herbs.

From Italian albarello, possibly derived from Arabic al-barīl meaning 'barrel' or a diminutive form thereof. These containers became standard in European pharmacies from the 15th century onward.
