Algarroba

The carob tree or its edible pod, which has a sweet pulp used as a chocolate substitute and livestock feed.

From Spanish algarroba, which came from Arabic al-gharrubah (the carob pod). The word traveled along Mediterranean trade routes where the carob tree was cultivated.
