Algerita

A spiky shrub found in southwestern North America with small yellow flowers and blue berries, also called Texas privet.

From Spanish 'algarita,' possibly derived from Arabic roots brought to Spain during the Moorish occupation, which then traveled to the Americas. The plant was named by Spanish settlers in what is now Texas and Mexico.
