Alkenyl

In chemistry, a functional group derived from an alkene by removal of one hydrogen atom, used to describe portions of larger molecules.

Blend of alkene + -yl (denoting a hydrocarbon group). This systematic term was created in the 20th century as chemists developed notation for complex molecular structures.
