Almacigo

A nursery bed or seed bed for growing young plants before they are transplanted to their final location.

From Arabic 'al-mustaqah' (the nursery), though some etymologists propose a connection to almaciga through the idea of planted growth. The agricultural term entered Spanish and Portuguese through medieval Iberian horticultural practices.
