Amphicarpa

A genus of climbing plants in the legume family that produce two types of fruit—flowers that open above ground and also produce fruit underground.

From Greek amphi- 'both' combined with carpos 'fruit.' The genus name literally means 'fruit on both sides' or 'double-fruiting,' describing this unusual dual reproduction strategy.
