Angiocarpous

Having fruits or spore structures that develop completely enclosed within a protective covering or outer layer.

Greek 'angeion' (vessel) + 'karpos' (fruit) + '-ous' (adjective suffix). This is the adjectival form of angiocarpy, used in botanical descriptions since the mid-1800s.
