Relating to or characterized by blood vessels with cavernous (cave-like) spaces, typically referring to abnormal vascular tissue.

Greek 'angeion' (blood vessel) + Latin 'cavernosus' (full of caverns). The term emerged in medical literature in the early 1900s to describe specific vascular malformations.
