A genus of very small parasitic worms (nematodes) that are microscopic and can cause disease in humans and animals.
From Latin 'anguilla' meaning eel (because the worms are eel-like in shape) plus the diminutive suffix '-ula' meaning small. The scientific naming follows the Linnaean classification system developed by Carl Linnaeus in the 1700s.
