Annapolis

The capital city of Maryland, United States, known for housing the U.S. Naval Academy.

Named after Princess Anne of Denmark (later Queen Anne of Great Britain) in 1694. Originally called Providence, then Anne Arundel Town, finally becoming Annapolis from 'Anne' + Greek 'polis' (city).
