Not in or relating to the period outside of estrus; describing animals not currently in a reproductive cycle.

From Greek 'an-' (without) + 'estrus' (sexual receptivity), used in veterinary and biological contexts. British spelling uses '-ous'; American often uses '-ous' as well.
