Anomalure

A nocturnal African rodent of the family Anomaluridae, characterized by a bushy, feathered tail and ability to glide using wing-like skin membranes.

From anomalos 'uneven' plus oura 'tail,' referring to the unusual feathered or brush-like tail. Named for its distinctive irregular tail, the term refers to these remarkable gliding rodents first scientifically described in the 19th century.
