Plural of anthropoid; apes and other primates that resemble humans, particularly great apes like chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans.

From Greek 'anthropos' (human) + '-oids' (plural of '-oid', things resembling something). The plural form is commonly used in biology and anthropology.
