Opposed to or critical of banks and banking institutions, especially their practices and influence on society.

From anti- (against) + bank. Bank (financial institution) comes from Italian banca (table). Antibank sentiment became prominent in the 19th and 20th centuries during economic crises and among populist movements critical of financial power.
