Opposing or counteracting the effects of gigmania, which is an excessive enthusiasm or obsession with performing or appearing in public.

From anti- (against) + gigmania (from gigman, a person who performs, + -mania, excessive enthusiasm). The term emerged in 19th-century English to describe attitudes opposing the growing trend of public performance culture.
