Antiglyoxalase

A substance that inhibits or blocks the enzyme glyoxalase, which breaks down toxic compounds in cells.

From anti- (against) + glyoxalase (an enzyme from glyoxal, a toxic compound, + -ase, enzyme suffix). This biochemistry term emerged as scientists mapped cellular metabolism in the late 20th century.
