Antiperspirant

A cosmetic product applied to the skin, usually under arms, that reduces or prevents sweating by blocking sweat glands.

From 'anti-' (against) and 'perspirant' (causing perspiration, from Latin 'perspirare,' to breathe through). The product category emerged in the early 20th century as a consumer good.
