Antisubmarine

Designed or intended to detect, prevent, or destroy submarines; relating to anti-submarine military operations or equipment.

From anti- (against) + submarine (from Latin sub, under + marinus, of the sea). This term became prominent during the World Wars when submarines became a major military threat.
