Aphidius

A genus of parasitic wasps that lay their eggs inside aphids, with the wasp larvae consuming the aphid from within.

A Latinized genus name derived from Greek 'aphis' (aphid) with the masculine Latin suffix '-us.' This genus was named to describe wasps that are associated with and dependent on aphids.
