Appeal

To appeal is to ask strongly for help or a decision to be changed, or to be attractive or interesting to someone.

From Old French "apeler" meaning "to call" or "to summon," from Latin "appellare." The legal sense of calling a decision into question and the emotional sense of calling to someone’s interest come from the same root.
