A portable breathing apparatus that lets divers breathe underwater by supplying air from a tank on their back.
From 'aqua' (Latin for water) and 'lung' (Old English lungen, the breathing organ). The term was popularized in the 1940s when Jacques Cousteau and Émile Gagnan invented the modern SCUBA device and named it 'Aqua-Lung' as a trademark.
