Areopagy

The system of government, jurisdiction, or authority of the Areopagus; the practice of rule by such a supreme council or court.

From Greek 'Areios pagos' + '-y' (condition or practice). A rare technical term used in classical scholarship to describe the Areopagus as a governing system.
