Astilbe

A decorative flowering plant with feathery, colorful plumes of tiny flowers that grows well in shaded gardens.

From Greek 'a-' (without) and 'stilbe' (shine or glitter), referring to the delicate, non-glossy appearance of the plant. The name was coined in the 19th century when the plant was introduced to European gardens from Asia.
