Atabeg

A military governor or powerful guardian of a young prince in the medieval Islamic world, especially in the Seljuk Empire.

From Turkish 'atabeg', which combines 'ata' (father) + 'beg' (master/chief). The term originated in Central Asia and became prominent during the Seljuk period (11th-13th centuries).
