Auslaut

In linguistics, the final sound or sound sequence at the end of a word.

German 'Auslaut,' from 'aus-' (out) + 'Laut' (sound). Coined in phonological studies to describe word-final position, parallel to 'Anlaut' (initial sound) and 'Inlaut' (medial sound).
