Autography

A method of printing where an image or text is written directly onto a specially prepared surface and then printed, similar to lithography.

From auto- (self) + -graphy (writing/description). This term describes the process where artists draw directly on the printing surface, making the artist the direct creator of the printing plate, which was revolutionary for art production.
