Autoluminescence

The property of something producing its own light without external energy input, like certain minerals or organisms that glow on their own.

From Greek 'auto-' (self) + Latin 'luminescere' (to shine). Combined in scientific terminology during the late 19th century to describe spontaneous light emission.
