Autonetics

The study or science of self-governing systems and automatic control mechanisms, especially in machines or living organisms.

From Greek autos (self) + Latin nectere (to bind/connect), blended with -ics (field of study). Emerged in mid-20th century cybernetics discourse to describe feedback systems that regulate themselves.
