Autophagia

The practice or condition of eating one's own flesh or tissue, either literally or as a medical/biological process.

Greek 'auto-' (self) + 'phagia' (eating condition), from 'phagein' (to eat). Clinically documented in rare psychological conditions and naturally occurring in cellular biology.
