Azimino

Describing a chemical compound or functional group that contains both an azo linkage (N=N) and an imino group (C=N).

Compound of 'azo-' (from German azo dyes) and 'imino-' (from Latin imago). This portmanteau arose in chemical nomenclature during the 20th century as organic chemists needed terms for increasingly complex nitrogen-based molecules.
