Of, relating to, or resembling the color azure; bright blue or sky-colored.

From 'azure' plus the adjectival suffix '-ous,' which means 'full of' or 'characterized by.' Azure comes from Persian 'lāžuvard' (lapis lazuli stone) through Arabic and Latin.
