A genus of shrubby plants in the daisy family, native to the Americas, often used for ornamental purposes and erosion control.

From Greek Bakchos (Bacchus), god of wine, though the connection to wine worship is unclear; the scientific name was assigned by Linnaeus in the 18th century.
