A type of flatbread made from flour, water, and salt, traditionally baked by Indigenous peoples of North America.
From Cree 'bannok' or similar Algonquian languages. The word entered English through contact with Indigenous peoples in Canada and was later applied to similar flatbreads in other cultures.
