Basiotripsy

The surgical procedure of crushing or perforating the skull of a fetus, historically performed to assist in difficult childbirth.

From Greek 'basis' (base) + 'tripsis' (crushing). A medical term describing a now-abandoned surgical procedure that was performed before modern obstetric techniques were developed.
