Bathythermogram

A record or graph showing temperature variations at different depths in the ocean.

From Greek 'bathys' (deep), 'therme' (heat), and '-gram' (recording). The term developed in the 20th century as oceanographers needed ways to document temperature data they were collecting from the depths.
