Beaverette

A synthetic or imitation beaver fur; a cheaper substitute material designed to look like real beaver fur.

Diminutive form of beaver using the French suffix -ette (meaning 'small' or 'imitation'). Created in the early 20th century when artificial fabrics allowed manufacturers to mimic luxury furs at lower cost.
