Belostoma

A genus of giant water bugs, among the largest aquatic insects in the world, found in freshwater environments worldwide.

From Greek 'belone' (needle) and 'stoma' (mouth), referring to the sharp, needle-like rostrum or feeding tube characteristic of these predatory insects.
