Benzonaphthol

An aromatic organic compound containing fused benzene and naphthalene rings with a hydroxyl group, used in dyes and pharmaceuticals.

Combines 'benzo-' (benzene) with 'naphthalene' and '-ol' (hydroxyl group suffix). Created as chemists synthesized larger polycyclic aromatics in the 19th-20th centuries.
