An irresistible, compulsive urge to steal books, considered a psychological condition rather than ordinary theft.

From biblio- (Greek biblion 'book') + klepto- (Greek kleptes 'thief') + -mania (Greek mania 'madness, compulsion'). Coined in the 19th century when psychologists began naming specific compulsive disorders.
